Towards the end of the summer, my mom likes to plan little mini vacations to take with myself and each of my siblings individually. This past weekend, we went to Holly, Michigan to go camping and enjoy our first time at the Renaissance Faire.
Since my parents live on the other side of the state, roughly 165 miles away, and with me constantly working overtime, I rarely get to see her or my dad for more than a day at a time once every few months. This weekend was refreshing to say the least; not only was I able to enjoy a vacation in the forest with no responsibilities other than to keep the fire going, but to also spend time with my mom without a time constraint. We got to walk around the Faire and get into character a bit, cook a huge dinner in front of the campfire, go hiking and discuss photography, and ultimately catch up with each other. I needed this more than I realized, and I am so very thankful for having such an incredible mother in my life. Thanks, mom.
